After almost 18 years at the forefront of Modern Jive’s development in Australia and running the successful Ceroc & Modern Jive Dance Company for the past 9 years, Nicky Haslam, the founder of the Ceroc style of dance downunder, has now handed over the reigns.

As of 1st March 2008, the new owner of the Ceroc & Modern Jive Dance Company is none other than Nicky’s right hand woman of the past 10 years, Julie Gunn (aka “The Gunn”).

Nicky will take on a direct management role for 2 venues, Manly and Willoughby, plus will act as Creative Director for routine choreography, workshops, class routines and no doubt will be seen as Guest Teacher at other CMJ venues.  So, expect to see even more of her at both Manly and Willoughby as she is on a “mission” to get both venues “absolutely pumping”!

“I feel it’s time for me to step down and let the next phase of development of the Ceroc style be championed by someone of impressive organisational, business, marketing and HR skills – someone of the calibre of my good friend and business associate for the last 10 years, Julie Gunn.

Event Manager of the Annual Ball and DanceMania, and manager of 3 of our most successful weekly venues, Lane Cove, Concord and Canada Bay, Julie has all the requisite qualities to ensure the continued success of the business and drive it forward to its next stage of evolution.  An ideas person, as well as an implementer of ideas over the years, her experience of the dance industry in Australia and in particular the Modern Jive scene is extensive.  Her knowledge of our Ceroc product and the high levels of customer service, quality and professionalism we strive to achieve are well known amongst the Ceroc clientele and fellow business owners in Australia.

Thank you all for your support and encouragement over the years.  Running Ceroc has been an amazing experience and I’m so glad I have had the opportunity to share my passion for dance with so many of you.  I look forward to seeing all of you at our classes and forthcoming events and I’m sure you will all join me in wishing Julie the very best of luck with Ceroc & Modern Jive Dance Company now under her management.”
