What is West Coast Swing?

Extremely popular in the USA & UK and now growing across Australia, West Coast Swing is characterised as a linear dance, emphasising connection between the partners as well as improvisation and personal interpretation of the music, giving it an elastic, smooth & sexy look & feel. This style can be danced slow and sexy, smooth and sophisticated, or fast and rhythmically to most types of music, including Top40, R'n'B, classic Swing, Jazz, Funk, Blues, Pop, Country & Western and Hip Hop.

	Where Can I Learn? Classes are held on Monday nights at Lane Cove Bowling Club, 151 Burns Bay Road, Lane Cove.  The first beginner class starts at 7.30pm, followed by social dance time and a second beginner class and an intermediate class at 8.50pm  - everyone's welcome, especially first timers! Our beginner classes work on a five week rotation - you don't have to start on Week 1, but it's great if you can, as that way you'll be starting with the easier moves and increasing your challenge each week.  Our next Week One for beginners is on Monday 13th February 2012. Beginner and Intermediate teachers include West Coast Swing experts Ajay, Amy, Clayton, Clint, Dave, Deanna, Janine, Jo, Nathan, Robert and Sarah.
	We also have Instructional DVDs available - currently two titles in stock: Fresh New Moves Volume 1 Stylisations Volume 1 - Funky Footwork both by Melina Ramirez and Scott Stuart $27 per DVD or $45 for both. Click here to see a trailer of Melina and Scott's DVDs.

Entry Prices: Casual entry $15 Full Time Students* $12 Under 18s** $10 5 Class Pass (valid 6 months across West Coast Swing AND Ceroc Modern Jive classes) $65 Ceroc Modern Jive Unlimited Passes give discounted entry to West Coast Swing classes at $12 * Full Time Students must show relevant Student ID.  ** Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

PLUS West Coast Swing Champions Scott Stuart and Melina Ramirez (pictured right) are teaching a one hour West Coast Swing Workshop on Friday night at Club Willoughby.  Bookings only $15 per person ($20 on the door).  Content to be confirmed - details coming soon!
